The factory shocks simply don't have the compression or rebound control that the suspension needs in rougher terrain. The Performance Series features larger 2-inch diameter bodies that hold more fluid for fade-free performance. Q: Why does Elevate use 980-24-679 for the rear shock?
A: Our most common set up for the 4Runners includes the use of our rear coils that provide 2” of lift. If you are not addressing the rear with any height, we recommend using the 985-24-124 for 0-1.5” of lift.
